What is the CAEL Scores and Identity Verification System?
An Online Verification System
The CAEL Scores and Identity Verification System (SIVS) is a new, simple, and fast way for post-secondary institutions to verify an individual’s CAEL scores and identity, and provides post-secondary registrars and administrative personnel with an effective tool for score verification.
Benefits of the CAEL Scores and Identity Verification System
The CAEL Scores and Identity Verification System (SIVS) allows for post-secondary institutions to directly verify an individual’s scores with the CAEL Office, without relying on mailed, paper score reports.
In addition, the CAEL SIVS also allows post-secondary institutions to subscribe to the Bulk Scores Download feature, which allows for institutions to automatically receive score reports from all individuals that have selected to send their CAEL scores to that institution. Subscribers to the Bulk Scores Download feature will no longer receive Official paper score reports in the mail.
How to Apply for the CAEL Scores and Identity Verification System
Applying to gain access to the CAEL Scores and Identity Verification System (SIVS) is simple and straightforward.
When completing the CAEL Scores and Identity Verification System Application Form, post-secondary institutions have the choice of subscribing to the “Bulk Scores Download” option. This feature provides post-secondary institutions with score information from all individuals who have selected to submit their CAEL scores to that institution. Once a post-secondary institution has selected this option, they will no longer receive official paper score reports in the mail.

"One of CAEL’s most attractive features is its academic focus. That is, CAEL results provide a reliable indicator of the potential for academic success because its test focus is application rather than ascertaining the student’s knowledge of language structure. We chose CAEL after careful examination of other well-known assessment tools and were impressed with its ease of administration and the technical support provided."
"We have consistently found the test to be a much more accurate instrument for predicting academic success than the other tests available. We plan on continuing to use CAEL as long as it is available."
"We chose CAEL because it contains, and expects students to produce (in writing & speech), the actual academic language of the university community. This validity was crucial in our decision."
