Paragon Testing Enterprises donated $4,263.20 to the Immigrant Services Society of British Columbia’s Refugee Sponsorship Fund this past December.

As Paragon Testing Enterprises develops and administers Canadian English language proficiency tests for immigration to Canada and Canadian citizenship, Paragon sees the importance and immediate need of supporting Immigrant Services Society of British Columbia’s (ISSofBC) refugee reestablishment efforts.

ISSofBC provides a variety of services to assist new Canadians adjust to the culture, language, and laws of the country. Staff, volunteers, and community partners of ISSofBC help immigrants and refugees find education, establish careers, and adapt to their new country of residence.

Jill Fu, Item Development and Research Coordinator with Paragon, says “ISSofBC was the natural choice for Paragon when choosing a non-profit organization to support because of the immigrant community we service. As a corporation who understands immigrant needs, Paragon felt it was a corporate responsibility to give additional funding to a community with limited resources.”

Paragon also chose to donate to ISSofBC because of the close relationships many staff have developed with the organization over the years. Alan Jin, Software Developer for Paragon Testing Enterprises, was personally supported by ISSofBC when he and his family first arrived in Canada from China. “ISSofBC helped me build my own network within one month of landing in Canada. They helped me customize my job search, paired me with a mentor in my field, and I successfully landed my first job in Vancouver two weeks after my baby girl was born – it was perfect timing, and I have ISSofBC to thank!”
