If you are a foreign
trained physician seeking employment in Canada, you may be required
to present an English language proficiency test score.
The CAEL Assessment provides a profile of English proficiency in the
four skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking. Testing
centres are located throughout Canada and registration
is conveniently online.
We highly recommend you register for a CAEL Workshop prior to taking
the test. This will allow you to become familiar with the format of
the test and to learn which skills and strategies you may need to practice.
Workshops are available at the Ottawa Testing
Center one week prior to each testing date, on Friday from 1:00

You will receive your Score Report 10 business days after the date of
your test. If you have any concerns with your performance, please contact
us so we may offer solutions to help you can improve your English and
